Glossybox - Make-up & Magic Review | November 2020

The theme for the November 2020 Glossybox is Make-up & Magic and I have definitely been looking forward to receiving this box following on from last month's sneak peak and some of the hints that I have seen. This box is focusing on glitter, shimmer and glow with all these combined together creates some magic. Unlike last month's box where there were two different themed boxes this is just one box that would be received. 

Similar to all Glossyboxes, this box again has the usual 5 products included. This products in this box seem to be mainly full size products with only one being a deluxe mini. With all Glossyboxes, you receive a variation of the box, the box that I received was variation 1. 

The product's that I received as part of November's Make-up & Magic box included:

2. Spectrum Collections - Limited Edition B07 Brush (full size)
3. Que Bella - Recharge & Restore Moonstone Glitter Gel Mask (full size)
4. Generation Clay - Ultra-Violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask (deluxe mini)
5. Hask Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner (full size)

As mentioned above, four out of the five products in this month's box are full sized with only one (Clay Mask) being a deluxe mini. In total, this month's box had a retail value of £60.80, which again is great value considering the monthly subscription costs and the quality of the products received. The eye shadow palette received had a retail value of £29.00 so for it to be included in this month's box alone makes it really good value for money. 

Spectrum Collections Limited Edition B07 Brush

I am a massive fan of Spectrum Collections make-up brushes (think that the majority of the make-up brushes that I have are from Spectrum Collections). For me the quality of the brushes are amazing and I absolutely love all the different colours/themes that they bring out (especially the Disney sets). This brush received is a eye brush and will be perfect alongside the eye shadow palette received. It is a limited edition version of the brush which I believe is from the Zodiac collection. I will definitely be adding this straight away to my make-up brush collection and will be perfect for creating eye shadow looks. 

LASplash Cosmetics - Magic Palette

This palette was the sneak peak that was included in last month's product card and I just knew from then that this would be perfect for me. I love eye shadow palette's that are based on warm tone colours and especially if there are some glitters included in. This palette definitely didn't disappoint, it has three shimmer shades and 5 matte shades. Due to the combination of shades included there should be the ability to create both looks for the day time and night time. This is definitely one of the products that I am really looking forward to trying out but from the look of it I think that it will be joining my regular eye shadow palettes. 

Generation Clay - Ultra-Violet Brightening Clay Mask

This is a brightening purple clay mask which has magical properties. It states that it will transform your appearance by rejuvenating dull, tiered skin and lightening dark circles and pigmentation. The product is made in Australia and is made with Australian Davidson plum. I am loving face masks at the moment in these winter months and am definitely intrigued to try out this product as have seen many reviews of clay face masks. The product itself is a dusky violet colour and will be next in line for trying when using a face mask. 

Hask - Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner

I have had similar varieties of these products in previous Glossyboxes and I really like using them, I actually use the Hask Argan Oil serum on my hair everyday. This is a deep conditioner that will help to repair dry and damaged hair. You receive quite a large amount within the packet which I can usually get a couple of uses out of it so again it makes it really good value for money. 

Que Bella - Recharge & Restore Moonstone Glitter Gel Mask

This is the second face mask included in this month's box but it is completely different to the clay face mask in that it is a glitter gel mask and will help leave your skin feeling bright and nourished. Similar face masks from Que Bella have been included in boxes before and I haven't got on with them previously, think it is something to do with the formula of the product but I will give it another go and try this one out. 

I have really enjoyed the theme for this month's box and how all the products are linked to it. For me, the overall standout products in the box were the eye shadow palette from LA Splash and the Spectrum Collections make-up brush. I can definitely see myself using these as part of the my make-up routines. 

From looking at the clue around the December Glossybox, it seems that it is going to be focused around skin care which will be perfect seeing as we are definitely getting some colder weather where you need to take care of your skin more.

Glossybox - The Beauty Tales Review | October 2020

The October 2020 box from Glossybox is themed around Beauty Tales. For the October box there were two different variants, Enchanted Spirit and Midnight Fantasy. The box I received was  Enchanted Spirit and I absolutely loved the design and colour of the box, it is definitely one of my favourites received so far. 

This box again has the usual 5 products included and also had the addition of some Cadbury's Darkmilk chocolate to try (really enjoyed this, will definitely look to purchase some more)! With all Glossyboxes, you receive a variation of the box, unfortunately I forgot to check which one I received this month and now the box is in the recycling (will try to remember for the next review)!

The product's I received as part of October's Enchanted Beauty Tales box included:

1. Illamasqua - Hydra Veil Primer (deluxe mini)
2. Bubble T Cosmetics Ltd - Fairy Dust Foaming Bath Powder (full size)
3. Luna By Lune - Pixie Lipstick (full size)
4. Eyesential - Under Eye Enhancer (deluxe mini)
5. The Beauty Crop - Stargazing Blush Duo (full size)

Three out of the five products received where full sized, with two of the items being deluxe mini's and as indicated above. In total (including the deluxe mini's this box had a retail value of £56.99, which is great value considering monthly subscription cost and the quality of the products. One issue to point out which I have seen raised quite a lot with this month's box is that my deluxe mini of the Eyesential Under Eye Enhancer was completely empty so have been unable to try this out. I have raised this directly with Glossybox but have not received an update on this in terms of replacing the item. 

Eyesential - Under Eye Enhancer

This was a deluxe mini version of the product that was part of the box that I received and is meant to help erase the dark circles, puffiness and fine lines under our eyes for up to 10 hours. As I mentioned above, unfortunately this product was actually empty so have been unable to test it out. 

Bubble T Cosmetics Ltd - Fairy Dust Foaming Power

This full size version of the product fits in perfectly with the theme of the box and love how it has been referred to as fairy dust. This will be perfect now that the nights have started to get darker and colder and I tend to have more baths in the evenings after a day of working. I'm a big fan of having lavender scented bath products to help me relax and unwind, so this will definitely be included as part of my next bath routine.

The Beauty Crop - Stargazing Blush Duo

This full sized product includes a duo of blushes with one being slightly more shimmery and the other being more of a matte finish. I really like how the two blushes included are different colours which should mean that they would work with a lot of skin tones. These look to be perfect for me and I will definitely be trying these out as part of the make-up products. I am really enjoying how each of the products included in the box this month links back to the main theme of the box. 

Luna by Luna - Pixie Lipstick

From reading the product card, I think this is the same colour that appears in all boxes (usually it would indicate if there were different shades that could be received). For me this isn't a colour that I would usually pick out as I tend to go for more neutral colours for lipsticks. Saying the I will definitely look to give this a try as the formula looks really nice and intrigued to see how the colour comes out. 

Illamasqua - Hyrdra Veil Product

I am definitely looking forward to adding this product to my make-up route, using a primer before my make-up is definitely something that I always do so this will definitely be tried out. This primer is meant to be part hydrator and part primer and should smooth the skin which will make it perfect for applying foundation. The pot that you receive is quite small but I guess that you only need to use a small amount each time. This was a deluxe mini that I received, the recommended retail price of the full sized version is £34.00 which is quite expensive for a primer so I will be interested in seeing how long this mini version lasts. 

The theming for this months box was really pretty and I liked how for the majority of all the products there was a link back to the overall theme. It was a shame that I had an issue with one of the products but overall the quality of the products received was really good. From having a look at the clue's around November's box, this seems be based around the magic of make-up and will include an eyeshadow palette. Fingers crossed that I receive a similar colour of eyeshadow palette to the one shown as this will be perfect colours for me.

Glossybox - Birthday Box | August 2020

Happy 9th Birthday Glossybox!

The August 2020 box from Glossybox is a special birthday edition. It celebrates Glossybox's 9th birthday and I love how the box comes looking like a present with a real bow tied on top of the lid. It definitely does stand out as being a special box this month with some amazing products included inside. 

As with all other boxes, this birthday edition includes the usual 5 products and I received variation 8 of this box. There was a slight delay in receiving this month's box which I was notified about in advance and think that this was due to there being high demand for this special birthday edition. 

The product's I received as part of August's birthday box included:

1. Glossybox Skincare - Eye Boost Cream
2. Huda Beauty - Demi Matte Cream Lipstick (Boy Collector)
3. Brushworks - HD Wonder Complexion Sponge
4. Molton Brown - Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Shower Gel
5. Steve Laurant - Vogue Lip Liner

All products received were full sized apart from the Molton Brown shower gel which is classed as a deluxe mini. In total this box had a retail value of £62.91, which again is amazing value considering the monthly subscription cost and the quality of the products that are received. 

Molton Brown - Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Bath & Shower Gel

This is a deluxe mini size product and is a shower gel that is a blend of rhubarb leaf, rose and grapefruit. It smells absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try this out. It can be used either in a the bath or as a shower gel which makes it the perfect product to test out. I also love the colour of the product and fits brilliantly with the theme of this month's box. 

Huda Beauty - Demi Matte Cream Lipstick

This is a creamy lipstick that dries to a satin finish from Huda Beauty. There were three different colours that you could receive as part of your box, I received a bright red colour called Boy Collector. Whilst I am not usually a fan of a bright red lip, I will definitely be trying this out to how the product works. The other two colours that could have been included were more nude colours which would have been my preference. 

Glossybox - Eye Boost Cream

Glossybox have only just launched their own skincare range so having one of the new products included in this month's box was perfect. The product received was an eye boost cream which helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles & puffiness. I'll certainly be adding this to my skin care routine as well as checking out the other products in the range that have recently been launched. 

Brushworks - HD Wonder Complexion Sponge

I love it when these boxes come with a complexion sponge as they are always something that I need. This is a 3-in-1 makeup sponge from Brushworks that is perfect for applying foundation, concealer, contour and highlighter. The shape of the sponge also enables you to use the different shape/sides of the sponge to apply make-up. A great addition to my daily make-up toolkit!

Steve Laurant - Vogue Lip Liner

The final product in this month's box was a lip liner from Steve Laurant. The colour I received was called Vogue and it looks like it is a dark red, which may work perfectly with the red Huda Beauty lipstick that I received in the box. It can be used to shape and define your lip contour and is completely waterproof and should last for up to 7 hours!

I've really enjoyed this month's Glossybox birthday and am looking forward to trying out some of these products in a make-up look soon. I love how the design of the box aligns perfectly to the month's theme, especially with the cute bow on the top! I am already excited about next month's box which from the clue provided could be themed around creating your very own a spa at home.

Glossybox - Aloha Review | July 2020

When I started to see some pictures of the July Aloha Glossybox, I was so excited to finally get mine delivered. I absolutely love the bright colours and the design on the box, it is so colourful and just makes you smile when looking at it. The theme for July's Glossybox was all about tropical, summer vibes and this box definitely does that!

Similar to previous months, there are 5 products included in the Aloha box. I believe that with this box there are still different variations that can be received, my box was variation 3. I also received an email prior to receiving the box from Glossybox which advised that one of the products (The Beauty Crop, Palm Balm) wasn't available and that it was being substituted. The item that I received in replacement for this was the Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara Deluxe Mini. Whilst I understand that there can be times where products aren't available, in my opinion it would be better if the substitutions provided fitted better with the theme of the box or similar to what the original product was meant to be. 

The product's that I received as part of July's Aloha box included:

1. Kocostar Fruit Slice Mask Sheet (Strawberry)
2. Jecca Blac Grow Drop Primer
3. Naobay Orange Juice Hand Cream
4. Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara Deluxe Mini
5. Give them LaLa Beauty Aloha Bronzer

Apart from the substituted Eyeko Mascara, all other products that I received were full sized. In total (including the Eyeko Mascara) this box had a retail value of £60.80, which again is excellent value when your compare it to the monthly subscription plans that are available. This box would have been even more value for money if all of the products advertised had been received. 

Kocostar - Fruit Slice Mask Sheet

I love sheet masks and generally keep a small collection of my favourites ready to use. It is infused with natural strawberry extracts and should provide your skin with a burst in moisture and hydration. Looking forward to trying this sheet mask out as part of my evening skincare routine. 

Jecca Black Glow Drop Primer

This is a primer that should also create a glowing base ready for make-up to be applied. I haven't heard of this brand previously but look forward to trying this primer out. I have a number of different primers that I use on a regular basis, so it will be interesting to try this out and see how it compares. 

Naobay Orange Juice Hand Cream

In these current circumstances, I am loving using all the hand creams that I have received as part of previous Glossyboxes, so looking forward to adding this to my 'to try' collection. This is a hydrating hand cream that smells of freshly squeezed orange juice and is a blend of shea butter, chamomile, aloe vera and orange water. I briefly tried this when I initially opened the box and it certainly lives up to it's name, with lovely tones of orange juice and made my hands feel really soft after using it. 

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara Deluxe Mini

This was the substituted product that I received as part of this box and is similar to a mascara received in a previous box apart from this being the sport waterproof version. Not only is this a waterproof mascara it is sweat resistant so I will look to try this out as part of getting back to gym sessions. I do really like the packaging of these products as they definitely are looking at minimising waste and plastics. 

Give them LaLa Beauty - Aloha Bronzer

This bronzer has the same beautiful packaging as the Aloha box and I absolute love it. This bronzer is long-wearing and a pigmented formula which I am looking to try out in my make-up looks. I love a bronzer that gives you a sun-kissed look so this one should be perfect for achieving this.

August's box is going to be a birthday surprise as Glossybox celebrate their birthday, so I'm excited to seeing which products are going to be included as no clues have been given so far.

Glossybox - World of Beauty Review | June 2020

One of my favourite monthly treats is receiving the latest Glossybox. The theme for June's box was World of Beauty, bringing a range of products from all over the world. 

As usual you receive five products in each box and there are a number of different versions for the box that you could receive, this month my box was version number 4. 

The products that I received in June's box were:

All of the products that I received in this month's Glossybox were full sized and have a retail value of £61.94 which is such good value when you compare it to the monthly subscription plans that are available. 

The Vintage Cosmetic Company - Makeup Removing Cloths

It is great timing to receive these makeup removing cloths in my Glossybox as I have just started to transfer over to reusable makeup removing products instead of using traditional single use items. 

There were two print designs of this product that you could receive, I'm pleased to have the Zebra version. These makeup removing cloths enable you to be able to cleanse and exfoliate your skin as well as remove your makeup. They are also designed to work with water as well so no other cleansers  are needed. I am definitely looking forward to incorporating these into my daily skincare routines. 

ModelCo - Liquid Metal Eyeshadow

Fitting in with the theme of this month's box, this product is from Australia and is a creamy liquid eyeshadow which is iridescent and sparkly. The colour seems to be metallic bronze and will go perfectly with a neutrals eyeshadow look and I'll be interested to see the different looks that could be achieved with it.

Nutura - Potato & Parsley Under Eye Mask

I am loving face masks and eye masks at the moment and really looking forward to trying this one out. These eye masks are part of the new Nature collection that BeautyPro have released. It is a rejuvenating under eye mask and helps to reduce dark shadows. I usually use face/eye masks on a Sunday evening before the start of another week so this will definitely be added to the collection to use next. 

LASplash Cosmetics - Makeup brushes

This month's box included two LASplash makeup brushes which came as a set. I received a setting fluffy brush which can be used to blend and build eyeshadow colours as well as a defining angled brush which will be great for applying eyeliner. You can never have too many makeup brushes so these will be a welcome addition to my collection! 

Huda Beauty - Life-Liner (Very Vanta)

This is a dual-ended eyeliner which includes a liquid liner and a pencil liner at either end which gives you the ability to get the perfect eye look from one product. I tried this today as part of my make-up and it was so easy to use and gave such a defined look. I really liked having the two products in one and being able to mix-up the eye look that you are creating. 

I hope that if you also received this month's World of Beauty themed Glossybox that you are  enjoying the products like me. I am looking forward to July's edition, I think it may have a tropical vibe so really interested to see which products are going to be included and will look to do a review once received.

Lockdown Activity - Doughnut Time Home Kits | June 2020

After so many weeks in Lockdown in the UK it has been hard thinking of different activities that can be done at home, especially when you are so used to going to different places and experiencing a range of activities. This has been the main area that I have struggled with especially when working from home as well as long hours.

I came across a post online which was a review of Doughnut Time home kits and thought that it would be a fun activity to try.It was so easy to order one of the home kits from the Doughnut Time website, currently there are five different home kits available on their website and we went for the David Hassel-Biscoff doughnuts which features the Lotus biscuits.

The home kits range from £11.50 to £22.00 depending on which option you go for. This home kit was £22 and came with 4 doughnuts as well as all the ingredients needed to decorate them and a useful instruction card. Delivery costs £3.95 (although it’s free when you spend over £30) which I didn’t think was too bad given that it included fresh doughnuts and you get a delivery time of 1-3 days. I received our order within the three days and absolutely loved how everything was packaged and simple instructions that were really clear. We kept ours in the fridge for a few days so that we could save them till the weekend but we didn’t find any issues with doing this.    
                                                   

The instructions were really easy to follow so that you can make the same creations that can be bought in their shops. Everything that you need was included in the box from the filling to the icing as well as the biscuits for the decorations. We found that we had plenty of the ingredients to be able to create the doughnuts and could even have put more filling in them as we had some left over but that is one of the best parts when you have some icing left that needs to be finished.

Once we had finished decorating the doughnuts, of course we had to try them and they were absolutely delicious. We both really enjoyed them, the doughnuts were really light and the fillings/decorations were so tasty. I am definitely looking forward to being able to visit one of their shops in London once lockdown is over and try some of their different options.

I would definitely recommend trying out of Doughnut Time's home kits, they are really good value for all the elements that are included. We enjoyed our first home kit that we have just ordered another one to try which we are looking forward to make.
